10th seeds USA have reached the quarterfinals in Chennai! The team of Julian Illingworth, Nicholas Chirls, Chris Gordon and Michael Gilman pulled off a key win vs. 7th seed The Netherlands.
Illingworth, playing No. 1 for the US, beat Dutch No. 1 Dylan Bennett 10-8, (6), 6, 0. The Netherlands took the second match. US third-string Nick Chirls came from behind to take the win off The Netherlands' Tom Hoevenaars (3), 10-8, 0, 0.
Next up, the US faces No. 3 seed Australia in the quarters. Rounding out the quarterfinals are No. 1 seed England vs. No. 5 India; No. 4 Egypt vs. No. 9 Canada; and No. 2 Pakistan vs. No. 6 Mexico.
